Western Grey Kangaroo
Macropus fuliginosus
One of the largest marsupials on earth. This giant can leap up to 12 metres in a single hop and can reach speeds of 60km/h.
It occurs in the forest scrub of southern Western Australia, southern South Australia, western New South Wales, southern Queensland and west Victoria.
These kangaroos prefer dense cover to open grassland. Even though they are still relatively common, there are 7 times more Eastern Grey Kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) than Western Greys.
These kangaroos, as all the larger kangaroos, are crepuscular, feeding from late afternoon to early morning and resting during the day.
