Black Lemur
Eulemur macaco macaco

These rare lemurs live in groups of seven to nine animals.  The males are jet black and the females a light brown with white fur around the head.

They are highly arboreal and prefer to travel through the trees, not on the ground like Ring-tails.

They are daytime active (diurnal) and live on a diet of fruits and leaves.  It is confined to humid forests in a small area of north western Madagascar.
