Mongoose Lemur

This beautiful small lemur lives in the North West of Madagascar. It is classed as endangered with a length of up to 450mm for its body and an extra 600mm for its tail it weighs around 2.5 kg on average.
It is a tree dwelling daytime lemur that uses all four legs and is very agile in branches, swinging from vertical to horizontal branches with ease.
It eats mainly flowers, fruits and leaves. It only lives in pairs with no more than two offspring and is very territorial. The gestation is 128 days with usually one baby, but twins sometimes occur. The baby rides on its mothers back and is weaned at 135 days. It can live up to 18 years.
