Ring Tailed Lemur
Lemur catta

Ring Tailed LemurThis is the best known of all the lemurs.  It lives in the dry southern part of Madagascar.

This lemur is active all day and is the most terrestrial of the lemurs, spending a high proportion of the day on the ground.

They live in social groups up to 25 animals with equal numbers of males and females.

The Ring-tailed Lemur  can sometimes have twins, one 'alpha' female controls all activity in the group.

We allow our lemurs to live 'wild', with two groups wandering freely around the zoo.
