Little Egret

DESCRIPTION: Little Egret is a small white heron with a dark bill and dark legs and bright yellow feet with attractive plumage on its crest and back. However Little Egrets from different parts of the world differ in colour.
FOUND: The little Egret has a very wide breeding range found along Coastal
estuaries, salt marshes and tidal inlets stretching from Spain through the Mediterranean to the Middle East, India, SE Asia down to Australia.
These are wetland birds who prefer lowland shallow fresh waters.
THREATS: Like other birds with beautiful breeding plumes little egrets were under threat from hunters for their feathers. Today habitat Loss and pollution are the main threats.
