Giant Otters arrive

Very Rare Giant Otters Arrive.

South Lakes Wild Animal Park becomes one of only 2 zoos in the UK where you can see these magnificent animals.

With just 51 Giant otters in captivity in the entire world and one of the rarest animals in the wild female Giant Otter “Tupi” become one of the latest and most special additions to South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Dalton in Furness Cumbria.

Born in Dortmund Zoo on 7th August 2007 2 year old Tupi is here as part of the International Breeding Programme who will assign her a mate in the near future. Arriving from Leipzig Zoo on Saturday she certainly is a fantastic sight exploring her new surroundings.

It’s all mod cons and a life of luxury with a fabulous purpose built enclosure, complete with indoor viewing areas overlooking her private indoor heated swimming pool where visitors can watch her show off her amazing aquatic skills.

Outside massive viewing windows overlook her outdoor pool, dens, rocks and fantastic otter home, and if viewers are as captivated as staff at watching her move and swim in her pool, and explore the area then she will certainly be a very unique and firm favourite.
